Just read a short story by Flannery O'Connor, the introduction said it would be humorous and ironic. It was one of the most disturbing stories I've ever read. Seriously why do we have to read this stuff? Shouldn't there be a warning? I know the world is a terrible place, and bad things happen, but why do I have to be accosted by it?
This story starts out as a family road trip, then they end up rolling their car into a ditch; the family survives, but then they are followed up by an escaped psychopathic convict who with his two lackeys shoot the family. The end.
Seriously?
